The M·A·C AIDS Fund was the brainchild of Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo, the co-founders of M·A·C Cosmetics. As the AIDS epidemic spread across the globe, the two men searched for a way to respond to their deeply personal and profound sense of loss. Encouraged by input from M·A·C Cosmetics employees, they decided to make HIV/AIDS organizations the beneficiaries of the company’s charitable focus.
Now into its third decade, AIDS remains the world’s most urgent health problem. More than 40 million people across the globe – 95 percent of them in developing countries – are living with HIV/AIDS. It is the leading cause of death in Africa, and the fourth leading cause of death globally.
Worldwide, HIV/AIDS has orphaned approximately 14 million children.
