The Wig Party started in
the late 90’s by a group of friends who just wanted to wear
a wig and indulge in some high kicking glamour for glamour’s
sake. Well surprise, surprise, turns out a lot of secret wig wearers
just wanted to let their hair down too.
As the years went by the party grew by word of mouth. People were
experiencing a special rush tapping into their alter egos and entertaining
their friends. The WIG Party took on a life of its own. Before we
knew it, there were prizes being handed out, banners being hung
and songs being sung.
Wig Party is about allowing people to come together and express
themselves in an environment that is empowering, entertaining and
frankly, glamorous. Ones’ level of fun and participation is
directly proportional to the effort one makes in organizing outfits,
shoes, accessories and of course make-up. Just imagine a party full
of the coolest people all dressed in the funkiest and hottest outfits?
The atmosphere is one of glamour and style while retaining a certain
playfulness. Think chic-glamour with attitude, but without the hang-ups.
It did not take long for the organizers to release that ones’
level of fun and participation is directly proportional to the effort
one makes in organizing outfits, shoes, accessories and of course
make-up. Wig Party is about allowing people to come together and
express themselves in an environment that is empowering, entertaining
and frankly glamorous. It has become the one of the coolest underground
parties in London; full of hip people dressed in the funkiest and
hottest outfits with an atmosphere of glamour and style while retaining
a certain playfulness. Think chic-glamour with attitude without
the hang-ups.
Wig Party 2005 saw the event successfully move to a trendy west-end
night venue while retaining the same playful spirit of past Wig
Parties on the terrace of Holland Park. The legend continues…
Wig Party is an annual charity even where all proceeds are donated
to our charity of choice. Wherever possible, the organizers, fiveforfun,
have endeavored to find vendors/suppliers who have donated their
products or services, either wholly of partially, in aid of our
charity of choice.
